Dear First Family:
"This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23
My day usually begins by walking out the front door , looking toward the Eastern sunrise sky where the door faces, and quoting the two passages of Scripture above. God has surely been faithful in my life, even when I have not .
We got up, brewed the coffee and hot tea and helped our family get off to school . I was proud of our teenage daughter Sarah. She got up 15 minutes early and went down the street to feed and exercise the neighbor's dog , as they went on vacation. The pay is pretty good these days for "dog sitting." I never feel very human until the first cup of coffee in the morning. I read somewhere that two cups of coffee in the morning will not hurt you and may be good for you. I hope they're right!
I am still praising God in my spirit for yesterday when Dr. David Brickner, President of Jews for Jesus spoke Sunday morning on the "The Jerusalem Dilemma." Sunday evening ,David Brickner presented "Christ in the Passover" showing us the elements of the Passover Seder meal as celebrated in the time of Christ. It was extremely moving. It made me understand and worship the Saviour in a new way. Tears came to my eyes as he said, "This is My body which is broken for you. This do in remembrance of Me." Hearing the Old Testament background of the Passover and then watching Dr. Brickner break the bread made me think of Him Who was broken for us on the Cross. Such love!
Our world needs the love of Jesus. A WWII Vet said to me this past week, "I have never seen our world in so many confusing, messy national situations." Iraq, Israel, Hezbollah, North Korea, Iran , not to mention America in our moral fog with no moral compass. A openly gay male U. S . representative from Massachusetts died last week at age 69. His obituary included in the survivor list "his husband." He had been "married " under the Massachusetts gay marriage laws. It cannot be too long until the Lord comes back in judgment when our lawmakers know nothing about God Who is the author of Law.
But this week , we will remember, "His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness!"
